You folks might be interested in knowing about a former Seventh-Day Adventist minister named Wayne Bent, who has openly claimed that God told him that he is the second coming of Christ. In Dec. of 2007, the BBC broadcast a documentary that Firefly Productions made about him and his disciples, who refer to themselves as Strongcity. The National Geographic channel recently broadcast a re-production of the same documentary. Strongcity has responded with a documentary of their own. The day after their movie was posted on the internet, state authorities apprehended 3 minors from Strongcity.
For further information, the BBC documentary can be viewed here:
Whoa! That was really interesting. I watched the BBC doco and poked around strong city's website a little. I can see how the Adventist church could cultivate a culture that could result in something like this. I'm not saying that the SDA church in general has any responsibility in any way for this or other break off sects.
I've seen about half of "Experiencing the Finished Work", which is one of the videos done by Strong City. That is really disturbing, fascinating, but disturbing.
I actually happened to see this on Nat Geo channel before reading this post. Ironically, these people also sent the church that I work for a pamphlet declaring that Jesus was coming in Oct, 2007. We all joked about buying their land the day before for really cheap.
Im a Seventh-day Adventist. And it hurts to see so many former adventists go coo coo. It happens more often than not! It makes for a good documentary though!
Strongcity is not a Cult. The fact that you hypocrites support the Pope's Holy Inquistion and the dangerous Cult of Roman Catholicism, makes this adventistfilmmaker.ning.com website very very Ecumenical.
Here is the truth on Seventh Day Adventism: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Council_of_Nicaea
We will destroy this Planet, Prince Michael and I.
Why?
Read Matthew 23!
The suffering of the Children raped by the Roman Catholic Priests and Prelates has reached heaven!

As long as the Catholic church, unlike SDA, is willing to take a Christ like stand for peace I have no problem calling them my brothers and sisters in Christ. All denominations have strayed from original Christian ideals and have been influenced by Paganism and Greco-Roman culture. Like St. Augustine said, the church is a whore, but she is still my mother.

One of the major problems within the SDA Church is the attitude of division. The Church tries to discourage it, most people within do their best to avoid it, but there is a pretty large percentage who feel they are above others - full stop. They feel this because of their 'bible truths' - once they have a few like the Sabbath and the Advent, they become addicted to it because they finally have a place in life that makes them feel above others.
It is no wonder why events like Waco and Strongcity appear out of such a place, it is a place of pride, not of goodness or love. There are examples of this ALL THROUGH THE BIBLE. I am a member of the Adventist Church and I do my utmost to avoid such people. Unfortunately most of them are deacons or elders in the church who are 'tolerated' because we must show kindness and love to others. Humility in the church is declining while pride is increasing. It is also no wonder why young people walk into chuch and them meet some guy who thinks he is ABOVE HIM. Anyway, more to come, we have the Shepherds rod and a few more groups...
