Climbing for Health Care in Nepal

I. Synopsis & Background
Six climbers attempt to climb 20,305' Island Peak in the Himalayas and, in the
process, are transformed by the story of their guide, Jagat Lama, and his vision
to build a hospital for his people in one of the poorest regions of the world.
Cl imbing for Heal th Care will chronicle the expedition and serve as an
invaluable documentary that offers both extraordinary experience and critical
insights into the life and struggles of people of Nepal in the Kumari region.

II. Documentary Objectives
Cl imbing for Heal th Care will follow six climbers on a major
mountaineering expedition to Island Peak, located about five miles south of Mt.
Everest. As they travel through the Everest Region they will be affected by the
stories of their guide, Jagat Lama, and his personal journey from one of the
poorest regions in the world to a successful business owner in Kathmandu.
Jagat tells the story of attempting to carry his father on the nine-hour walk to
the nearest Hospital – only to have him die on the way – and the climbers reach
a new goal of helping to build a hospital in Kumari, Jagat's birthplace.
