The Executive Planning committee is hard at work trying to get things in place for next year's 2010 SONscreen Film Festival.
One thing we've heard over and over again through the year's is that filmmakers that attend SONscreen would like the opportunity to have someone critique their film and give them feedback on how they can improve what their doing on their film. Sooo...we're exploring the idea of introducing the very first SONscreen Filmmaker Critique session in 2010.
There would only be a limited amount of films that could be critiqued so filmmakers would have to register early to have their film included... but what do you all think of the idea?
I think this would probably be one of the biggest and best attractions to the festival. I know that I would have loved to have some professional feedback on the PSA I created.... also, possibly they (the professionals) could give info on how to promote the work.
As for qualifications of a good critic; its really a large amount of opinion. Just because a film is critically well made doesn't mean its that great as well as vice-versa (Michael Bay). What most of the student film makers would be looking for would be just someone with 3-5 years of technical and creative experience in the fields.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I know it's been a while since this discussion was brought up but 2010 is upon us now and I think we'll move ahead with trying to add a critique segment... wish us luck!... and prayer... and good critics...
