About Me:
Well, I'm set to graduate from Northern Caribbean University in August of this year (2008) after four and a half of the best and worse years of my life. It's a journey I'll never forget.

Some of the things I LOVE include: reading, writing, watching movies (preferably ones that are thought-provoking), and art (whether painting, sculpting and more recently screen printing), and outdoor activities like hiking (thanks to Pathfinders). I also have a big interest in film. I love watching the behind the scenes clips of any movie because to me that is the greatest part of the whole experience - the making of the film.

What else is there to know? Well I’m a blend of shyness and frankness (may sound strange but it’s true). I guess it just depends on the who, the what, the where. I value true friendship and family is what keeps me going each day. Without these two aspects (friends and family), my life would be empty.

Thanx for your reply... and the advice.

Would love to visit the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, Middle East... OK, everywhere! But with wife & two kids, I can't just flit around randomly.

Luckily, the safest place is where God wants us to be (wherever that is!). No, I lie: for now, it's right here - I'm just a bit impatient.

But I do find the whole "faith-based ministry" thing quite intruiging. Get a hold of some of David Gates' books some time. I think he might have some sermon excerpts on the Gospel Ministries International website.

And si, yo would love to habla Espanol. The whole cultural immersion thing sounds muy bien! Bolivia... hmmm.... La Paz, pan pipes, los charangas, alpacas.... back to earth.

Hey Nadia!

Good to see we're increasing the international quotient (I'm from Australia)!

Just wondering if you're in a position to give me the lowdown on David Gates' crew in the Caribbean/Latin American region. What's the general perception of GMI's media assets? - Caribbean Family Network, Red Advenir, etc?

I ask because I'm considering doing some volunteer work for Gospel Ministries International when I finish my Communication degree (end of 2009). Since I don't speak Espanol, I'm thinking maybe Guyana or Grenada?...

My concerns:
1) I understand that in some countries over your way, the Adventist population is up to the wazoo (as they say). I'd rather not end up in another Adventist mecca. I'm looking for opportunities where Adventism, or even Christianity, is less common.
2) Are Caribbean Adventists very conservative? I kinda get the picture that they might be. It's not so much the theology that worries me as much as the suit and tie and the whole "dressing for success" thang that worries me - you know: the look and the vibe, where I fear I might not fit in.

So anyway, thanks Agony Aunt. That'll teach you to sign up to random networking sites ;-)

God bless you as you complete your studies. I know He has a plan for you - a good one!

Kent Kingston (I do not lie - it's Kingston... yeh mon!)
